MULTI-SENSORY APPROACH:
We use unique, innovative, and creative techniques to help children overcome traditional hurdles in reading. Color coding, tapping, singing, and even little things like forming circles around specific letters help children learn to read at a much faster rate.
PHONICS “ON STEROIDS” :
Phonics: Sounding out words using letter sounds. We teach everything that’s taught through third grade, plus twice the vocabulary, and in a more efficient, fun, and easier way than children are presently being taught in U.S. schools. After years of research and teaching children to read, we found that instead of teaching children lists of words in each grade (as taught in schools), that the benefit of sounding out words, and using rhymes to teach groups of similar words, help children learn to read and retain much faster.
PRIVATE SCHOOL ADMISSIONS PREP:
While we do not offer specific tutoring sessions for this type of prep, the creator of our reading method had 20 years of experience teaching young children to read, while also assisting children to prepare for private school admissions and gifted and talented tests. While she discontinued any kind of test prep after seeing how much pressure young children were exposed to, she realized that one benefit from this prep was improving fine motor skills. She designed The Alexander Reading Method books with specific exercises, allowing for a total package of easy-to-learn reading plus pre-writing skills, all in one program. Every book has exercise and flashcard pages, helping children work on fine motor skills by practicing cutting, hole punching, using markers to write and draw, and for reinforcing new words.
